Being a photographer is a time consuming job. My job doesn't end at the end of a shoot. In fact, that is when the real work begins. As a photographer who shoots both dogs and cats, I work with a wide range of clients. Sport Yorkies, based in Washington, is a company specializing in the breeding and training of Yorkshire Terriers. For ten years they have been training Yorkies, starting when they are still puppies, and teaching them skills in agility, and companionship. Being a photographer is not an easy job. It consists of long hours, endless photos to sort and edit, not to mention keeping up with all the orders! Still, I wouldn't have it any other way. Everyday I get to photograph dogs, cats, and their humans. Happy families of all shapes, sizes, and species appear in front of my camera. And at the end of the day, I get to see their happy faces when I share the moments I captured.
Now I am not going to lie; working with animals can be tricky. With so many interesting smells, and exciting sounds, it can be a bit difficult for our fur-babies to focus. However, with over 30 years experience as a photographer, I've perfected my attention-grabbing calls. My job is to capture images you can't wait to hang up on your wall. We all have photos on our phones, and on our social media accounts. However, my passion is to take photos worthy of your desk at work. I want to take the picture which hangs in your family room. I always like to remind my clients; digitals are nice, but prints are forever. And when it comes to our homes, I think they should be filled with portraits of our dogs, cats, and even our favorite humans!
